In order to unlock this credential, you need to be able to demonstrate the ability to create a graph, showing the relationship between 2 variables.
Range:
SALT – scale, axis, labels, title
- Scale
- Choose horizontal and vertical scales that will accurately show the data.
- The independent variable is shown on the horizontal (across) axis.
- The dependent variable is shown on the vertical (up-down) axis.
- Axis
- On each axis, the scale is clearly shown.
- Correct increments and units identified for both variables
- The scale increments evenly, a clear break in scale is shown.
- The vertical axis starts at zero
- Labels
- Each axis is labelled, identifying the data shown and the units used. E.g. Temperature (°C)
- Title
- The title should directly link to the Aim of the experiment. For example, A graph to show how water temperature (in oC) increases every minute when heated over a blue Bunsen flame compared to a yellow Bunsen flame
- Plots – should be clearly marked with an ‘x’ on the point where the two variables ‘meet’
- If there is more than one line on the graph, a key needs to be added that correctly identifies each line.
