To unlock this credential you need to demonstrate that you have gained knowledge of your whakapapa through your genealogy and your connection to the land. You need to identify your connection to:

whenua / land

  • tūrangawaewae / place to stand
  • maunga / mountain
  • awa / river
  • moana / sea

  • hapu / subtribe
  • marae / meeting place

whanau / family:

  • tīpuna / grandparents
  • mātua / parents
  • tuakana teina / siblings

All these elements lead into you and you finish your pepeha by introducing yourself.

  3. Formally present your pepeha to somebody else or a group of people.
