Students will demonstrate the ability to measure matter involving 2 variables e.g. speed (ms-1) or density (g/cm3) or pulse rate (bpm)
Skills range:
Measure two variables and use them to calculate a property such as speed or density
Possible equipment:
- Stopwatch
- Ruler
- Scales
- Measuring cylinder
- Thermometer
Criteria:
- Select two pieces of correct equipment
- Accurately read from both scales
- Select correct units for measurement
- Calculate a property with appropriate units using these two numbers
- Record your measurements
Context:
This skill is practical-based and therefore needs to be observed by a teacher/mentor/technician by using appropriate laboratory equipment and showing appropriate calculations.
Safety
Reading labels
Conscious of actions in the lab environment
