  • A scientific concept or idea that relates to the results and conclusion of the investigation is explained – i.e. the results are linked to a scientific process relevant to the investigation.

Exemplars

If the Aim of the investigation is: To compare the energy content of different fuels

  • All energy comes from the sun. Fuels are created from fossilised plants and animals. Plants trap the suns energy through photosynthesis and animals eat plants, gaining their energy from plants. Different fuels contain different chemicals, which means they contain different amounts of energy, so some burn hotter than others.
